Brief information about Kemer

 
The historical past of Kemer dates back to 690 BC, the Ancient City of Phaselis. At the beginning of the 1900s, there were lakes and swampy areas formed by the flood waters coming from the mountains, known as the Old Village, in the region where the Kemer district was established today.
 
The name of the Old Village began to be called Kemer because of the 23 km stone wall that the people of the Old Village built on the foothills to protect them from the flood waters coming from the mountains. Due to the lack of land transportation until the 1960s, the district, which could only be reached by sea, managed to preserve its untouched beauties.
 
Kemer, which has grown and developed rapidly with the tourism move since the 1980s, was transformed into a district in 1991.

Kemer, one of the most important tourism centers of the Mediterranean Region, has many places to visit both in the district center and around it. Kemer is located 35 km from Olympos, 12 km from Phaselis Ruins and Museum, 50 km from Adrasan near Kumluca, 35 km from Yanartaş, 19 km from Beldibi Cave and 37 km from Üçoluk Plateau. .
 
Among the places to see around Kemer are Yanartaş, which has a natural source of fire, known as eternal fire, Çıralı, Göynük Canyon, Ulupınar, Seljuk Hunting Lodge and Idyros Ancient City.

There is no direct public transportation from Antalya Airport to Kemer. You can reach Kemer directly from the airport with car rental and private transfer service.
